Following a young wizard prince and a warrior princess who were raised to despise one another, this fantasy adventure blends humour, heart and Cowell's signature sketch-style illustrations. A brilliant introduction for readers moving on from How to Train Your Dragon, and a fantastic gift set for confident young readers who love magic, monsters and mischief.. About the Books. The Wizards of Once follows Xar, a wizard prince whose magic hasn't yet appeared, and Wish, a warrior princess who is anything but warrior-like. Raised on opposite sides of an ancient feud, the pair are forced together when Witches, long thought extinct, begin stirring in the dark heart of the Wildwoods. Across four books their friendship deepens as the stakes rise: in Twice Magic they are separated by an impossible wall as witches spread havoc; in Knock Three Times they become outlaws racing to gather ingredients for a spell that could banish the Witches for good, while betrayal lurks close by; and in Never and Forever they face the terrifying Kingwitch and a monstrous Tatzelwerm to mix a potion strong enough to lift the curse threatening the Wildwoods forever. Told with short, punchy chapters and playful illustrations, the series has been praised for its clever storytelling and lovable characters, making it an ideal set for bedtime reading, holidays or a first fantasy series for children moving beyond picture books.. Complete four-book paperback set in reading order. Fast-paced fantasy adventure with humour and heart. Illustrated throughout with Cressida Cowell'
