Drawn from Usborne's Very First Reading series, each of the eight paperback storybooks introduces new letters and sounds through short, rhyming, illustrated tales. Bundled with a guided activity book, an alphabet chart and reward stickers, this set turns early phonics practice into a genuinely fun, shared reading experience for parents and children alike. About the Books This collection follows the Very First Reading approach, where an adult reads one line and the child reads the next, gradually building phonic knowledge and confidence one step at a time. Each of the eight 32-page storybooks focuses on a handful of new letter sounds, layering skills gently through titles such as Pirate Pat , Double Trouble , The Dressing-Up Box and Captain Mac . Lively rhymes, warm humour and charming illustrations keep young listeners engaged, while repetition helps cement new vocabulary. The accompanying Activity Book works through each letter in turn, offering simple exercises that reinforce sounds from the stories, while the alphabet chart and over 60 reward stickers give children a visual way to track progress. Parents' notes are included, offering practical tips on supporting a child through these early stages of learning to read. Together, the set forms a structured introduction to phonics that can be worked through at a child's own pace, at home or as part of a bedtime routine, slotting naturally alongside classroom phonics teaching.
